Introducing Grand Rapids Holistic Physician Dr. Dan Ohlman

The Chiropractor To See In Grand Rapids

I was introduced to chiropractic care from a babysitter of ours who brought their son to a chiropractor when he had a cold and he got over it faster. What? Interesting! Something about the nervous system and its ability to boost the immune system. Wow! Another year or so later I met another Dr. of Chiropractic who did this strange muscle testing reflex technique. I had no idea what it was, but found myself intrigued by this unique approach. So, when he said I should go to school for it, afraid and excited, I went back to school for a year of science at Grand Rapids Community College and Grand Valley State University.

Before all of that, I went to Western Michigan University for business and changed my major to Business Education in my junior year. It was the wrong major for employment. So, I went for my masters in counseling. What's another 4 years? I got a job as a counselor at Alcohol Out Patient Services. During my time there, I began to see how nutrition affected emotions and how exercise, yoga, and tai chi fit in. Then, at the age of 30 I moved my wife and two daughters to Davenport, Iowa for three years of chiropractic school at Palmer College of Chiropractic.

Now, 25 years later I'm grateful for all of those experiences. I have grown in my techniques. I've incorporated emotional work, bringing my counseling background into it. Balancing the physical & chemical components to a wholistic wellness practice. My appreciation of Body-Mind-Spirit has enhanced my own spiritual, physical, chemical and emotional life. I feel privileged to work directly with God's creation and to assist in the natural ability the Body, Mind, and Spirit has to heal itself.

I'm not the healer. I'm the grateful, educated, always learning middle man.

Dr. Dan Asks some important questions of interest to Grand Rapids residents - Chiropractor Grand Rapids Dr. Dan Asks...

What's the purpose of a surgeon's mask?
When I ask most people in Grand Rapids this, most think it protects the patient from the doctor's germs. But it's so porous it does little to prevent the passage of germs. We chiropractors don't bother with masks.
Which organs are extra?
You don't have any spare parts. Sure, we can survive without our tonsils, appendix, gall bladder and several other tissues, but each serves a purpose. We chiropractors recognize this. So the chiropractic approach I use in Grand Rapids is to reduce nerve interferences to the control and regulation of every tissue, organ and system of your body.
